About NeenaStudio

Hi, I'm Neena.

I've loved drawing since I was a child. I studied art in college and later worked as an artist in the game industry for about ten years.

In 2020, I designed my first watercolor paint box for my own use. I simply wanted a tool that worked better for the way I liked to paint. Some of my artist friends saw it, liked it, and wanted one too.

That small project gradually became NeenaStudio.

Today, drawing and designing are still closely connected in my life. I sketch outdoors, travel, take part in Urban Sketchers gatherings and other art events, and continue designing tools and accessories for painting and sketching.

Many NeenaStudio products begin with something very simple: a problem I encounter while painting, or a small idea that might make drawing a little easier or more enjoyable.

Designed through drawing

I don't want NeenaStudio to be separated from drawing itself.

I use many of the things I design myself. I take them outdoors, travel with them, discover what works and what doesn't, and keep improving them.

Sometimes a new product begins with nothing more than a thought: "I wish I had something like this while sketching."

Over time, NeenaStudio has grown beyond the original watercolor paint box. I continue to experiment with paint boxes, palettes, sketching tools, travel accessories, and other small things made for artists.

A small independent studio

NeenaStudio is a small independent studio based in China.

Most of my products are not mass-produced. My usual process is to design something and then make individual pieces or small sets to order. Many products involve 3D printing, hand finishing, assembly, and individual quality checks.

My husband also helps with production and fulfillment.

Because this is a small studio, my time is divided between drawing, designing, making custom orders, and attending sketching gatherings and art events. I don't maintain large inventories or release every new design simultaneously across every sales channel.

This way of working may be slower than conventional retail, but it gives me the freedom to keep experimenting, improving designs, and making things in small quantities.

I hope the things I make can become part of your own drawing journeys — and perhaps collect a few memories along the way.
